Open Kitchen

During lock down I volunteered delivering food parcels for a charity linked to Open Kitchen. Their focus is on food waste and they approached me after lock down to work on a scheme for a cafe they were opening within the People's History Museum in Manchester. Their budget was tight but as their ethos focuses on food waste I utilised reclaimed and second hand furniture and lighting in the scheme which while reducing the environmental impact also kept costs down. Tiles on the servery we're made in the UK using recycled materials and the seating was made using recycled ocean plastic. Even the upholstery fabrics I used were made using recycled plastic bottles.
